CL Glamorgan v Gwent

Gwent had a disappointing result in their Channel League match against Glamorgan at Pyle & Kenfig on Sunday 19th May 2019.

Gwent were hampered by the non-availability of a number of their top players and were forced to field an understrength team.

Gwent lost the morning foursomes by 3½ points to 1½ and the afternoon singles were lost by 7½ points to 2½.

Glamorgan were fielding their full team which left Gwent with an uphill battle throughout the day.

WL Gwent v Glamorgan

The Gwent II Team narrowly lost their match in the Wessex League against Glamorgan II’s by 6½ points to 5½.

Gwent were unlucky not to go in all square at lunchtime with Gavin Milligan and Ben Ware being one up going to the last and losing the hole to a birdie with their game ending all square.

The afternoon singles were equally favourable to Gwent with Dan Jones being one down with 2 to play. Dan birdied the final two holes to win his game by 1 Hole.

CL Gwent V Cornwall

Gwent got their 2019 Channel League season off to a fine start with a 8½ to 6½ points victory over Cornwall on Sunday 28th April 2019 at Llanwern Golf Club.

With the morning foursomes halved 2½ points apiece the top order in the afternoon singles of Laurence Vargas, Dan King, and Rhys Briscoe got Gwent off to a fine start with all three recording substantial victories.

These results were followed up with wins for Rhys Barber and Cameron Powell and halved games for Leighton Pollard and Greg Baker.

Dyfed Boys v Gwent Boys

Dyfed Boys v Gwent Boys match which was played at Machynys on Friday 26th April 2019.

The Gwent Boys team were hampered by the non-availability of some of their better players. Dyfed on the other hand fielded one of their strongest teams.

Gwent lost the morning foursomes by 3 games to 2.

In the afternoon singles only Dan Bearcroft put up a formidable fight in his game against Dyfed’s top player Bryn Thomas which went to the last green with Dan claiming a 1 Up victory.

Brother Luke Bearcroft also captured a notable scalp in his defeat of Joss Lerwill.

It was Gwents tail end of James Drury, Alex Morgan, and Piers Murphy that came in with good wins to secure a singles victory and a halved match which was played in very difficult conditions throughout the day.
